Bargaining Update - June 16, 2022

Hi all,

Labour Board Challenge

As you know the Collective Agreement for SecurTek expired March 20, 2022. We have a meeting scheduled with SecurTek on June 27 to discuss how or if we move forward with bargaining as we continue with our potential federal labour board application.

With SecurTek scheduled to become a department in SaskTel, we are looking at a possible challenge Under Section 44 of the Federal Labour Code because we believe this move forms a successorship under the legislation and SecurTek should fall under the SaskTel Collective Agreement and certification order because of this.

Grievance Update

At SaskTel we had a policy grievance SC-2021-01 for SaskTel’s Vaccine Policy which was basically the same as our grievance at SecurTek ST-2021-01. We agreed to put the SecurTek grievance on hold pending the resolve of the SaskTel grievance. We managed to come to a negotiated settlement With SaskTel and this same settlement will apply to the SecurTek grievance.

The grievance deals with the reasonableness of the Companies policy specifically timeframes and costs during the time it takes to be compliant if a member wishes to become fully vaccinated.

        • We are pleased to announce we have reached an agreement for SecurTek to reimburse certain testing costs relating to employees’ compliance withSecurTek’s Covid-19 Vaccination Policy.

        • Reimbursements will be for valid receipt(s) for an approved test from an approved testing site in compliance with the Covid-19 Vaccination Policy for testing costs from October 6, 2021 - November 17, 2021 inclusive;

        • SecurTek will inform eligible employees by sending letters to their home address advising of the process to receive reimbursement.

We will keep you updated as we progress though these issues.

Bargaining Update - March 16, 2022

Hi all,

As you know the Collective Agreement for SecurTek expires March 20, 2022. We have put bargaining on hold because of the announcement that Directwest and SecurTek will be moving back into SaskTel as departments. Under Section 44 of the Federal Labour Code we believe this move forms a successorship under the legislation. Our position is that Directwest and SecurTek should fall under the SaskTel Collective Agreement and certification order because of this.

We will keep you updated as we progress though the issue.

COVID Regulations/Policy Update - October 19, 2021

This is to advise that Unifor Locals in the crown sector have filed grievances with our employers regarding the recently announced employer “Vaccination Policy”. These grievances are not seeking to dismiss the policy all together, it is about the unfair timeframes and costs imposed upon employees to become compliant with the policy. We will process the grievances as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you should comply with the policy as currently outlined. If you find yourself in a position that you must miss work or pay for a covid test, please keep detailed records and receipts.

As new information becomes available, we will post updates.

In solidarity,

Dave

COVID Regulations/Policy Update - October 5, 2021

This is to advise that we have concerns around their recent announced declaration of vaccine status “policy”. We have reviewed the policy and will be filing a policy grievance relating to SecurTek’s Policy.

We have had many questions regarding interpretation of the “policy” or FAQ questions. If you need clarification on interpretation, please email your manager.

In solidarity,

Dave
