Don't sell our SaskTel - Rally in Weyburn - Thursday October 13, 2016

posted Oct 5, 2016, 10:28 AM by Gail Sawatzky
There will be a rally in Weyburn at 28 4th Street NE - Constituency office of Dustin Duncan MLA for Weyburn-Big Muddy.  He was recently appointed Minster of Energy and Resources and is the Minister responsible for SaskTel.  In this article from the CBC in August Premier Brad Wall indicated that he could potentially be open to the sale of SaskTel as a means to generate additional revenue to eliminate the government's operating debt http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/premier-brad-wall-discusses-the-potential-sale-sasktel-1.3733267

We are holding this rally strategically in front of the Minister of SaskTel's office in Weyburn to encourage him to look else where for revenue to eliminate the debt.  If SaskTel could even be sold for the price necessary to cover the debt the sale would be a one time payout and would not take into account the yearly revenue that SaskTel generates for this province.  Yearly dividends go towards funding hospitals and schools for everyone and it doesn't even take into account the charitable donations and sponsorship funds SaskTel provides to numerous charities and events throughout the province.  SaskTel belongs to the people of Saskatchewan and strives to provide good services to everyone from La Ronge to Saskatoon to Estevan and everywhere in between at a reasonable price that has been shown to be lower than similar services in other provinces.

Join us in Weyburn from 12:00 - 12:30 for a Rally and BBQ to tell Minister Dustin Duncan and the provincial government our SaskTel is not for Sale!
