Bargaining Update - May 15, 2019

posted May 15, 2019, 7:29 AM by Gail Sawatzky   [ updated May 15, 2019, 11:10 AM ]
As you have seen in previous updates, while there has been some agreement on some of the non-monetary issues, there has been a general message of “Not Interested” from SecurTek on bargaining issues brought forward by the membership.  Wages and compensation are the biggest priority from the membership.  The monetary wage discussions have been the most disappointing part of negotiations.

We are asking for fair wages and this does not appear to be an option from SecurTek.

With that being said, we are officially declaring an impasse at the bargaining table.

We are writing up the impasse as of May 15, 2019 under the legislation of the Saskatchewan Employment Act.  The labour minister will review the impasse and appoint a mediator as a third party to help us negotiate to get a fair Collective Agreement.

There is a General Meeting being held on Tuesday May 21, 2019 in Yorkton at the Home Inn & Suites located at 506 Broadway Street West at 7:00 pm.

At this meeting, we will provide a more detailed update and will be holding a “Show of Support for Job Action” vote in support of the bargaining committee at this meeting.

In solidarity
Your Bargaining Committee
