Bargaining Update - June 5, 2019

posted Jun 8, 2019, 10:16 AM by Gail Sawatzky
We met with the provincial mediator on June 3, 2019 at 10:00 am in Yorkton.  Both sides explained the major outstanding issues to the mediator.  The mediator then separated both sides and began discussions with the Union.  We prepared a bargaining pass for SecurTek.  The mediator left us and took the bargaining pass to the company to discuss.  The Company did not respond to the Union’s pass, instead they released the mediator from his duties, which either party may do under the Sask Employment Act, ending the mediation process after only 4 to 5 hours or so.

We are disappointed with SecurTek and their lack of commitment to utilize the provincial mediator to help us achieve a fair Collective Agreement.

We did manage to secure additional dates to possibly meet with SecurTek on June 25 and 26.

We will be scheduling strike vote meetings to take to the bargaining table to show the strength and solidarity of the membership in an effort to achieve a fair Collective Agreement.

Please continue to wear your “Stand up for Crown Workers” t-shirts in the workplace.  Keep up the chatter and discussion about issues with your co-workers, friends and families.

Thank you for your strong showing of support for the bargaining committee.
In solidarity
Your Bargaining Committee
